বিনোদন জগতে Mookilla Rajyathu — 35 Years of Living in a World Where Nobody Is Quite Sane নিয়ে এখন বেশ আলোচনা। সিনেমাওয়ালায় আমরা খবরটা নিজস্ব ভাষায় সাজিয়ে তুলেছি।
Thirty-five years is a long time for a comedy to survive।
Actors age, references become obscure, fashions become embarrassing, and jokes that once brought down theatres can eventually produce little more than a polite smile।
Yet Mookilla Rajyathu remains one of those films that can be switched on at almost any point and still get a laugh. That is what makes its longevity unusual।
It isn't merely a much-loved film from Malayalam cinema's great comedy era।
It is one of the rare comedies that seems to have escaped its own time।
You don't have to be nostalgic for 1991 to enjoy Mookilla Rajyathu।
The film simply remains funny. And if Malayalam cinema has produced more sophisticated comedies, more commercially successful comedies and certainly more celebrated comedies, Mookilla Rajyathu has a strong claim to being the definitive one because it understands something very basic about comedy: put four people who have absolutely no business functioning normally into a world that is already slightly ridiculous, and then let them loose. The premise is wonderfully uncomplicated।
Benny, Keshavan, Krishnankutty and Venu are inmates who escape from a mental asylum after becoming convinced that Amitabh Bachchan is shooting a film in Ernakulam।
They have seen an old newspaper report and, in their excitement, fail to realise that the news is no longer current।

By the time they discover their mistake, they are already outside।
From there, the film becomes a journey through a world in which almost every person they encounter seems to have a peculiar logic of his or her own.It is a brilliant premise because it gives the writers almost unlimited comic freedom।
The four men can misunderstand situations, invent explanations, make terrible decisions and behave inappropriately, and the audience accepts all of it because we understand where they are coming from।
More importantly, the people they encounter are not necessarily any more sensible।
The film begins by asking us to identify the four escaped inmates as the abnormal characters।
As the story progresses, it quietly makes the distinction harder to maintain।
The supposedly sane people they encounter are vain, suspicious, greedy, gullible, short-tempered, pompous or simply bizarre. That idea was part of the film's design।
Jayachandran has said that he wanted Mookilla Rajyathu to have its own stamp rather than follow the familiar tracks of contemporary comedy films।
Even its sense of time was deliberately kept elusive, with details such as a wrecked science laboratory and a rapidly spinning clock discouraging the audience from fixing the story too firmly in a particular period।
